The end of last week was filled with abuse from my ex, so I was a little quiet on the work front. My visitors didn’t need the slurry left from that crap. Saturday was filled with apartment hunting. My parents are the most caring people in the world. Far too caring for naughty me, not that I don’t deserve them, but the never ending barrage of questions produces more and more fibs. The icing on my birthday cake was the bombshell left field million dollar question from my father. He looked me straight in the eye and asked “Can we please hire your escort service?” Under the table there was a collective pool of blood drained from my face and those of my offspring (They know what I do, their father had announced it at the top of his lungs as he left). Colour slowly started to return when I realised my parents are off on another cruise and need a lift to the ship. Sadly, the end of the day can never come fast enough with family visits.

Having a career in the sex industry can be so hard and, I think it fair to say, the majority of working ladies sacrifice “normal” relationships by doing what we do. I know why I do it and so do my close network of friends and my children. They accept me for who I am and know that I am a much stronger, likable, sexy, confident, stable, self sufficient person. Parents, banks and real estate agents are not so forgiving, although what I do is perfectly legal in NSW. I am an adoring parent with the most loving and incredibly humourous kids. I pay my taxes, I pay my rent on time and go about my business very quietly (OK, no pointing out how loud I can be during the throes of passion, hehe)

Woman out shopping with husband spots a pair of boots she likes. I went for a walk through the city to pay my rent, hoping I wouldn’t be recognised by anyone else. It was windy so I went to button up some more of my cardigan. So much for trying to not stand out, I had the bloody thing on inside out. Luckily I had a singlet on underneath and quickly redressed myself.

I got to the bank and realised I didn’t have the rent account details. After a phone call I stood in the line for ages. Sure as eggs, in walked someone from the past. As she stood behind me in the queue I kept my eyes straight ahead. It wasn’t till I got strange looks from the teller that I realised I was in the car repayment bank not the rent bank.

I am safely hidden away in my apartment again, catching up on washing. I’m not going out again till dark.

When you live with family you tend to go to bed at a reasonable time. When you live in the city 3am is more the norm, but, unlike others, I can’t do the all night writing thing. Design work yes, writing no.

The trouble with going to bed at an ungodly hour becomes obvious when you have to move your car before 8am or chance a parking fine. A couple of weeks ago I copped a parking fine. The parking officer was a little asian lady. She was quite sweet she said “I see you car here plenty time.  I walk whole block before I have to come back. I just write ticket now, I so sorry. Don’t move it now you stay here till tomorrow morning much cheaper. You live around here you get permit?” I told her I split up with my husband and I’m staying at a friends apartment. She said “Oh good for you I wish I had guts leave my husband. I don’t like men!” Hahaha, she was great value and I paid that fine with a smile.

I rank apartment hunting up there with shopping, I HATE IT, but the time has come for me to find somewhere with a car space and a reduction in rent. I took this place in a hurry on a casual agreement, I don’t want to leave it, I love it here but the parking SUX.

I have finished my contract with the sex worker org in Brisbane and now will be turning my attention to some much needed sex worker support closer to home. I spent a week with Lucy in Bris recently. As a, until recent events, part of the furniture at Sydney’s Hellfire club, I dragged Miss L to the one in Brisbane. It was totally different to the one here, more like a pub for dress-ups, flogging and a fairly goth scene. We stood out in our shiny PVC and latex.
